Hybrid & EV MOT

Did you know once an electric or hybrid vehicle reaches three years of age, it legally must receive an annual EV MOT service? This is needed so your car can legitimately drive on the roads.

If you do not conduct an MOT on your EV or Hybrid vehicle you can be fined up to £1000 if caught. For more information, click here to see what happens when you drive without one.

Do not panic, however, as such a service takes up-to an hour and undergoes a similar test compared to a traditional MOT.

Therefore, there is no change in the process from a customer’s point of view, ensuring a smooth experience at our garage.

Below is a step-by-step process we undertake for an MOT service:

EV MOT Walkthrough

  1. Inspection – Firstly our certified technicians examine the lights, brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, and more.

  2. Functional Tests – Next, key components, for example, the battery, electric drivetrain, and charging systems, are checked to ensure their functionality.

  3. Documentation – Furthermore, issues discovered while carrying out the inspection are documented, and recommendations for repairs are provided.

  4. Certification – Finally, passing your hybrid or EV MOT test, you’ll receive an MOT certificate, valid for one year, proving your vehicle is roadwortthy.
